The Department for Education has well-defined roles and responsibilities that its staff have towards the safety and wellbeing of young people.
Instructor requirements
Instructors and assistant instructors must have a working with children check from the Department for Human Services (DHS) before they can be employed by the water safety team. All staff must also have training in responding to child abuse and neglect.

ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï uses guidelines such as the protective practices for staff in their interactions with children and young people guidelines (PDF 3 MB)

The water safety team also use the guidelines in the photography and water safety programs (PDF 86 KB) .
