Short term vacancies of up to 6 months within the Curriculum and Learning Division (C&L) arise from time to time for positions at a range of levels. Eligible employees are invited to register an expression of interest for these assignments.
This skills register is compiled annually. Approved applications will be valid until the end of January 2026.
About the Curriculum and Learning Division (C&L)
C&L supports sites and partnerships to develop consistent effective practices through curriculum and pedagogical frameworks; Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), Reflect, Respect, Relate (RRR), Australian Curriculum (AC), ºÚÁϳԹÏn Certificate of Education (SACE) and the Teaching for Effective Learning Framework (TfEL).
To build the consistency of effective practice within sites and across ºÚÁϳԹÏ, components of the Curriculum and Learning strategy include:
- driving high quality literacy and numeracy practice and high quality design of learning and assessment
- providing leaders and teachers universal advice and tailored support about curriculum, teaching and learning to address differing levels of learner achievement and growth
- delivering the effective implementation of the department’s learning improvement strategies, programs and projects for a world leading education system
- an intentional emphasis on Aboriginal learners.
Roles within Curriculum and Learning, conditions and requirements
You can express interest for a range of positions. Short term positions are available to employees under the:
- Education and Children’s Services Act 2019
- Public Sector Act 2009.
The conditions of most opportunities include that, unless negotiated otherwise, successful applicants will remain employed under the Education Act, but will be appointed under conditions similar to those of the Public Sector Act 2009.
Specific duties will vary with the role. All positions are accountable to the relevant Director and the Executive Director, Curriculum and Learning.
(a) Appointments under S121 of the Education and Children’s Services Act 2019
For these S121 positions you:
- don't need to have a teacher registration or a current authority to teach
- will need a Working With Children Check before confirmation of an appointment.
(b) Education Act, Seconded Teacher Levels 1 to 3
To apply for seconded teacher positions you must have a current teacher registration and either:
- be permanent Department for Education employees
- have a current, active Employable Teacher Register (ETR) application with the Department for Education and meet the department's minimum employment requirements.
(c) On Assignment
Successful applicants remain employed under the Education Act and are appointed under teacher conditions for periods up to 2 school terms.
Location
You may be based at:
- Education Development Centre at Hindmarsh
- Education Centre, 31 Flinders Street, Adelaide
and the work may involve work with schools and preschools (sites), out of hours work, intrastate and interstate travel.
Term of Appointment
Maximum of 6 months.
At the conclusion of their appointment, permanent employees of the department will be placed according to the terms of their substantive appointment and the policies in operation at the time.
The placement of employees from other public sector organisations will be the responsibility of these organisations.
Applicants who are not permanent employees of the Department for Education or are from another public sector organisation do not hold placement rights with the Department for Education at the conclusion of the appointment.
