Best Hoodie Ever?

While I’m definitely not a fan of all of the North Face hoodies, this particular one, the Backyard Full Zip Hoodie, is awesome. It’s a little on the pricey side, but this California made sweatshirt offers everyday practicality. I don’t just wear it when I go out, I also wear it around the house and because of how comfortable is, I just can’t seem to wear it enough.

I really can’t stand clothing that looks cool but isn’t comfortable – call it old age, but I just can’t do it anymore. Fortunately, the Backyard hoodie offers both comfort as well as a style I can appreciate.

If I had but one complaint it would be that the brown, which North Face calls “Weimaraner Brown Heather,” is more like a tan or khaki color. No big deal, but I was really hoping for something a little more… brown? Yeah. That’s it. When I order brown, I’m looking for brown. But this minor annoyance aside, I love this hoodie. Never any problems with the zipper, nice and cozy on the inside, and the front pouch-like pockets offer a nice cozy place to warm my mittens. I’d buy it again if I had to, although I might consider a different color, like the dark grey.

What’s particularly interesting about this sweatshirt is that it, unlike quite a few North Face products, is made exclusively in the United States. It was designed at the company’s headquarters in California’s Bay Area, which is actually where I myself originate. The brown and white cotton that it’s made from is grown in North and South Carolina while the rest of the construction process–the cutting, sewing, and dyeing–is completed in Los Angeles. Truly an American made product.

Being a California born product of the United States myself, I can’t help but feel a strange connection to this otherwise somewhat normal article of clothing. Call it weird, but it is what it is.

If you want one for yourself, I suggest you buy it from this store.
